Finding us by road:
Take the A12 (from London) or A14 (from Cambridge and the Midlands) towards Ipswich and then Felixstowe.
After crossing the Orwell Bridge, continue for 3-4 miles and then leave the A14 turning left for Lowestoft onto the A12.
After approximately. 15 miles turn right on to th
e A1094 to Aldeburgh. Entering Aldeburgh continue straight on at the mini-roundabout towards the town centre.
Turn right at the bottom of the hill into the High Street, which then continues on to Slaughden Road (an unmade road).
Go down Slaughden Road to its end where you will find our Sailing Club.
Visiting Yachtsman
AYC looks forward to welcoming visiting yachts on your cruise of the East Coast. The mouth of the Rivers Alde & Ore can be a bit challenging. The link below to the East Coast Pilot website gives a useful chart of the entrance, but it is worth bearing in mind that the shingle can move and therefore please be alert when crossing the bar, and even recent charts may be out of date.
Once on the river there’s plenty to enjoy, wildlife, quiet anchorages and lovely walks. You’ll pass Havergate Island Nature Reserve and Europe’s largest vegetated shingle spit. Orford is well worth a stop for its history, pubs and the Butley Oysterage.
